Spring Has Sprung!
With the weather getting warmer some people may assume that little ski-town of Fernie is packing up and closing down until next winter. Fortunately, that assumption is incorrect as spring in Fernie is yet another season that is jam-packed with loads of activities allowing people to enjoy the weather. The snow banks in town are starting to get smaller, and the roads are getting drier but the mountain still has a healthy coat of white meaning people can still head up and enjoy spring style skiing -a whole new experience compared to riding on powder. Spend a day with local guiding company Elk River Guiding Company as you fish the waters that are home to one of the largest remaining populations of wild, pure-strain Westslope Cutthroat Trout. If you’re short on time, the fly fishing conditions are still great from the river banks. Remember all fishing requires a BC Fishing License.
Thanks to two great volunteer organizations, the Fernie Mountain Bike Club and the Fernie Trails Alliance, Fernie’s walking, biking and hiking trails are maintained and available for everyone to enjoy.
